About Leon Klempner
In May 2011, Leon Klempner founded the Smile Rescue Fund for Kids, a charity that provides funding to children born with facial and craniofacial deformities so severe they cannot be helped by their families, governmental agencies or established charitable organizations.
After years of volunteering with the large international charities that provides cleft palate surgery to children in need, Leon recognized that during every mission, children with very severe cases were not receiving the help they needed, simply due to insufficient funding. It was more efficient to treat many children with milder cases than a very few who were severe. It was frustrating and sad for him, so he decided to take action.

It is with mixed emotions that I write this post. It has been one year since Saline stepped off the plane at JFK with a small bundle of her belongings in her hands and hope in her eyes. She had her face covered to avoid attracting attention as she held Duncan’s hand. That day she […]
I am happy to report to you that we have now received all the items that you helped raise funds to buy. The last bit, the wheelchairs, was not easy because of the many hurdles the transporter lay on our way and it made me take such a long time that caused a lot of […]
For those of you who have followed the journey of Saline, you know that while she is here in America, receiving life changing surgeries, she has also sparked in everyone an urgency to bring Light, Educational Support, and Clean Water to her village. There has been great progress in all of these areas. Today […]
Here is a quick progress update on Saline and the African Project to bring clean water, solar lighting and training for the challenged children in the village. 1) Saline has been undergoing a series of fluid injections in order to expand her skin in anticipation of her next surgery which has been scheduled for Monday, […]
